“This Is What The President Has Caused” - Mitt Romney

Today, when we should be celebrating the fair and free elections of Ossoff and Warnock in Georgia, when we should be celebrating the certification of the electoral college vote, we are instead evacuating the Capitol building. We are reading news reports about protestors charging DC police and breaking through to the Senate chamber. This violence is not, however, surprising to me and nor should it be to anyone else. Our country has been for four years in the voracious grip of a petty and impotent thug who has spent that time screaming on twitter. That screaming has led to today, it has motivated thousands to charge down the doors of the government and attack the foundation of our democracy. As Senator Romney said as he was ushered out of the chamber as protestors smashed in the doors with poles “This is what the President has caused today, this insurrection.”

As I write this photos are coming to light of officers facing down with protestors inside the building and protestors are claiming that shots have even been fired. Whatever blood is shed today, whatever this unrest brings about have no doubt that the shame, the fault for it all lies at the door with the golden letters TRUMP stamped upon it. He and his enablers have created this nightmare and as the structures of government crumble history will ensure it is upon their backs that it does so.
